[Sample] What reaching a scholarship tier does and does not mean

Reaching a tier opens eligibility to apply. It is not an award, and this is the difference that matters most.

A scholarship tier names a points balance and the award level that balance opens.

Reaching one means a member may apply at that level. It does not mean funds have been set aside, and it does not mean an application will succeed. Awards remain subject to the programme terms, to verification of the balance behind the application, and to the funding available in that round.

This is worth being blunt about, because the alternative reading is the one that causes harm. Somebody who believes a tier is a guarantee may plan around money that does not arrive.
